Almost all information systems used in healthcare organizations provide some level of reporting functionality, however, a common theme in these platforms are reporting processes which are unable to produce information in a concise or familiar format, or are lacking specific data elements required by management, which can lead to simplistic and error-prone manual processes for gathering and reporting vital information. In many cases, a facility wants data condensed or summarized, and ends up with a manual process of extracting printed or downloaded data to painstakingly collate or transfer to a master report. Population health management and clinical quality measures are examples where data can be pulled from databases to generate hitlists and follow-up reports to guide work efforts in meeting quality measures.

ACI can bridge these gaps for you, in many cases by using existing tools to query the database, extract specific data elements, and present them in customized reports that are built to the customer's specifications.  Database engines such as Microsoft SQL (or MySQL, or Oracle, or whatever drives your data) can generate raw data that can be dropped as tables into Excel spreadsheets for processing and display.  Formulas within Excel can run lookups from those tables, and combine labels with calculated results to generate sophisticated reports that present information as succinctly as possible, and can be quickly updated. By plugging add-on packages such as Crystal Reports into your databases, even more sophisticated reporting processes and executive dashboards can be constructed, correlating separate platforms, integrating with live web pages, automatically scheduling and distributing output, even offering access via smartphone.  The possibilities are virtually endless.

Examples of analytical reports and tools:

  • Scoring matrix of MU performance indicators, by measure and provider
  • Task status matrix with drill-down to who, what and where tasks need attention.
  • Order status matrix to summarize referrals by physician
  • XY graphs that visually compare performance on combined metrics

These reports are all based on live data extracts and require only minutes to refresh, providing the organization with powerful tools that provide good visibility into critical functions their delivered systems were unable to provide.
